This master class would examine the creative possibilities of digital compositing in service of author’s short animation films. The digital compositing is usually connected with the process of post-production and the combining of complex visual effects with already shot raw footage of live-action mega productions. In animation films, the digital compositing is a compulsory stage when there are computer generated 2D and 3D images, or multiple separately shot or animated elements made in different traditional animation techniques. But compositing, by its very nature, can become an extremely powerful tool for the production of animated content itself, rather than just being used as a post-production stage. Drawing on her personal experience as a VFX compositor on feature live-action films, as well as her work as a creator of three short animated films, Velislava will present ways to use digital compositing as a primary means of animation and the creation of new original animated worlds.
